Welcome to The Mill

Since it’s foundation in 1992 The Mill has been the main studio facility for the North East of Scotland and surrounding areas and, as well as local musicians, has had clients from as far a field as Shetland, England and Europe.

As the name suggests The Mill is a converted water mill set in the beautiful countryside of Royal Deeside, only 20 minutes away from the centre of Aberdeen and Dyce airport. Belying the historic appearance of the building we operate a fully digital workflow whilst still accomodating the most traditional of instruments.

Through experience of working in many studios throughout the UK and also America, The concept behind the studio was to create a bright, airy place in which to write and record music. A space that is comfortable to be in and effortless to work in.

The studio has several recording areas, and a unique large stone walled ‘Live Room’, which is particularly suited to drums and acoustic instruments. Everybody that has recorded in it loves it!

The studio has worked with all genres of music and audio, including Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz, Scottish Traditional and Classical. We have also produced several projects with educational and multi language based material for schools and oil and gas companies and have worked with film-makers, voice over artists and design agencies.

The Mill has recently introduced a new service entitled Pop Star For A Day where we let children and adults experience a day in the recording studio singing or playing their favourite song with the expert guidance of the resident musician. Whether it’s a Birthday surprise or just something that you always wanted to do, we are here to guide and help.
